Talaxian sighting, long ago, far away Options

Did you ever have one of those times you wish you'd done something else?

Many, many months ago, I saw a Talaxian. He was an employee. In a pet store. I really, really wish I'd stopped and said hi and complimented the guy.

OK, he was a junior employee, around college age, and there was some sort of discussion going on with his boss. It wasn't going well, from what I could tell. I think, in fact, his hairstyle and lifestyle was one of the points of dispute.

I was wandering around, getting pet supplies. I looked over, and what do I see, but a young guy with what looked almost exactly like a Talaxian style hairstyle. (Admittedly, that style borrowed from two or three sources.) I had to smile. I thought it was great. I thought the young guy was one brave soul for that. (Hey, I never went that wild, even in college.)

I still wish I'd stopped and complimented the guy and said (in front of the boss) how nice it was to see someone with a little creative self-expression, that it brought a smile to my face to see that kind of variety, and it was so nice of the boss to be so understanding (heheh) of an employee's individuality.

But I was too shy or chicken to do that.

Uh, he was also kinda young for me, but I did notice. See, like I said, I need to relax a bit on the conservatism.

That guy probably didn't work there much longer. Too bad, too. He probably changed his hairstyle some time later.

OK, I have no real idea if he was a Star Trek fan, a punk fan, or into Native cultures' styles.

But hey, a few supportive, positive, friendly words might've helped him that day, and it *might* have helped with whatever the boss was going on about.

So, yeah. -- And if there was any guy with a Talaxian hairstyle in a Petco / Petsmart in Houston, a few (months? years?) ago now, dark blond hair -- Well hey, that was really terrific!

(We will ignore that I was kinda attracted, too. Probably just me. He's probably straight. It figures. ...Nevermind that part, it's just my luck and wishful thinking....)

I would have loved to know if he got the hairstyle from Neelix on Voyager, or from the two or three sources I think Neelix's hair were inspired by.

I think it was great. -- I hope the guy, wherever he is, is still as ready to be that individualistic and express himself so well.

(It was somewhere around summer fan convention times, too. So it *could* have been a Talaxian thing.)

Anyway, it was great. Yes, I'm still kicking myself once in a while when I remember that. Things you should have done differently. I should've said hello, great hairstyle. I sure hope I've learned, in case there's ever a next time.
