If you just can't wait for the release of our first full episode, you can hear part of the teaser for our pilot ep here: http://ratheroddproductions.podomatic.com/...T04_25_49-07_00
This scene features Robert Thomas Hawke as Captain Ransom, Mike Dempsey as Commander Rea, James Butterfield as Lt. Cmdr. McCullough, and special guest star Nick Cook of Star Trek: Intrepid as Lieutenant Daniel Hunter (his Intrepid character). Let's thank Nick for working with us to flesh out Hunter's situation this far before the pilot of Intrepid! The show is put out by cast member Lee James Sands. |

All I get there is something about puppets which does not sound like any type of Trek? HUH? ... OK apparently there is something toward the end of the nearly hour-long broadcast. I can wait until they put that teaser up by itself.

If you jump forward to the 49 minute 35 second mark, you should be able to hear the preview directly there.

At the rate things are going, i'm SERIOUSLY starting to dought that Equinox is EVER going to see air What do you mean, saying that? Scripts for 1.01, 1.02, and 1.07 are done. Scripts for 1.03 and 1.04 are in their final stages. We want to get 1.05 and 1.06 done -- 1.03 through 1.06 form one single story -- so they are internally consistent. I'm pretty sure that lines for 1.01 have been recorded, 1.02 have been or are being recorded, and we're also going to hit the cast with 1.07 (if we haven't already). 1.08 will only have 1 major Equinox character in it; the rest will be one off parts, so this can be recorded at any time once the final script is done. Our plan is to have all the recording done for the entire season, then release the episodes in order at a regular pace. This way, there will be no breaks mid-season or while we wait for another episode to be completed. Also, we all have lives outside of this. I recorded my lines for the three part season finale / season opener for Henglaar, MD in July and August 2011, and TPTB are still working on getting that released. It's not like anyone involved is being paid for this, and we're doing this in what free time we have. Equinox will be done. But instead of some slap-dash, half-assed product, we want it to be good. And good stuff takes time! Peace, Scott |

I can understand wanting to do it that way but Henglaar, MD was released over 3 yaers ago and they have only done 6 episodes Exactly. Everyone is busy, and life takes first priority. Henglaar, MD has things planned out to the third season, I believe. The hangups usually are actors getting their lines in, scoring the episodes and assembling the episodes. Henglaar, MD uses custom-made music for its episodes. There is a lot of work in each episode, matching lines, pacing, matching sound effects, etc, etc. David and Mark work extremely hard, and spend a lot of time and energy devoted not only Henglaar, MD but also other projects they are working on. I just started with the Equinox team this year, and we should have all the first season scripts finished by the end of the year. Each script is approximately 45 - 55 pages long. Unlike some other audio shows (and this is a general statement, not a specific statement aimed at specific series), we have made the conscious effort to make our characters three-dimensional and give them complex personalities. We could easily write "episode of the week", but we are making the effort to show these characters progressing from where they started to where they ended up in Star Trek: Voyager's "Equinox" Parts 1 and 2. Once we get season 1 further underway, I believe we'll be looking for other writers to help Camren and me out so we can have a team of writers. They will need to be good at what they do, and be able to prove it to Charlie and Camren (and maybe me). This will make later seasons a little easier to assemble. Right now, Camren and I asked Charlie if we could be very "hands on" for the first season, especially since we wanted to get the story arc right and get the characters established. Again, we want to do this right. We could rush into it and do it very wrong, or make it like other projects out there, or take our time to do it right. I vote for doing it right. Scott |

I recorded lines and sent them in quite a while back. I'm told they will be used in one or two episodes.
Events in my real life went seriously off track (and really still are) and that was beyond my control. (My grandmother passed away last year. I was her primary caregiver for several years. I've been out of the work force, and...I've been having real problems getting my life back in order. Working at it, but daaaannnggg....) I was over-eager and told (everyone I know) I'd be in another fan audio drama, and I added it to my (very short) list of audio credits. (Hey, I'm totally amateur, but it's *fun* to do!) ... I jumped the gun in telling people it would be due out in a couple of months. Things went badly for several people involved with Equinox, such as David Hill having a death in the family, change of jobs, move, etc. (And other people besides.) That, too, is really unavoidable. The economy is still bad, compared to how it was. Most of us are struggling to do what we do. And this is all unpaid, volunteer, we're doing this because we love it, type stuff. ... Which gets seriously bummed out if we have delays and problems we can't avoid. (By "we," I mean anyone who works on or has done lines for, any of Hidden Frontier's audio and video productions.) -- I can easily understand getting overwhelmed and burned out. (I resigned as a volunteer webmaster from an unrelated site/project (not fandom) because I got swamped and there was no support/understanding from the person I was doing it for. Bad personal falling out there, it hurt a lot. Live and learn.) So I can understand, I think, some of how people doing the production work feel. Sure, I wish it could be ready right now. I want to enjoy hearing it. (Er, I also want to be able to say, "Listen, I was in that!") And I want to be able to tell people how good it is. -- I *have* told several people how good Hidden Frontier's productions are, along with Star Trek: Outpost and Star Trek: Excelsior, which I also really like a lot. I wish the heck I had a constant, steady paying income and job. I don't, and don't expect to for a good while. More likely, I'll have to keep on towards making my own job and income. Sigh. In this economy. Bad Timing. Unavoidable. Gotta live with it and keep at it. Easy to get discouraged though. Most folks working on audio/video fan projects (or original works) have regular jobs, families or at least house-mates, and dang, real life eats up that weekly/monthly/per-project paycheck, and real life takes up so very much time and energy, it's hard to find the time and energy and enthusiasm to throw into a volunteer project, even something we all love. Uh, I am *still* interested in doing further voice work / (acting?) whenever things get to another casting call. I would love to hear more, whenever things are ready / about ready. Note: Not sure I'd call what I was doing "acting" (or good, skilled acting) lol, but I have enjoyed it each time I've done any. So far, I seem to be a heavy. Dunno what's up with that, but it *does* let me let go of that "dark side." Keep up the good work, guys and girls, Equinox and other shows. -- Yes, I'm about to check out that link. Ego, lower your shields and prepare to be boarded! |

Equinox will see air. Unfortunately, IRL is getting in the way of our audio engineer, with a very time-consuming new job. We have the first 10 scenes assembled, and the 11th will take awhile cuz it's a big one.
I understand your frustration with the delays, and in fact, empathize and to a degree, share them. But as others here are pointing out, life, as annoying as it is, has to come first. Equinox will. See. Air. |

Hey, if you guys find yourself in a bind with audio work I can assist you as well; I majored in music and minored in recording studio engineering and do audio work regularly. We might even be able to help each other as I need to get some stuff written for a Christmas Special on Trek Radio. Add me on skype "mundaneraptor" or call my google voice (321) 221-2747. |
