Okay. Now that was pretty cool.
Having utterly and completely suspended my disbelief, I cannot wait for this movie. |

Probably the best one so far.
Only…no Nimoy. Again. He was only in the modified trailer 2… Those new cadet uniforms are nice, but not exactly something new… It is nice that at least they reference the "old" kirk… |

I suspect now that we are a couple of months out we will start getting more teasers and info on the story as they ramp up the PR blitz.

Not to disagree with you, but to me, the music sounded like some of the trailer music from "The Dark Knight." Whatever it is, it made the trailer work. I am actually kind of excited to see this movie. |

I hate the new Enterprise.
I hate the new Star Wars style warp effect. I hate the lack of the tradional red shirt deaths so far. I hate that they do not use the TOS Federation symbol. But I like this trailer. It firmly establishes the movie as an alternate time line, (number 3 for those counting, (not including those in Parallels)). Chris Pine is looking beter and better as Kirk then Shatner with each trailer, with the writers respecting the almost mythical laid back and er... lets say risque early life of James Kirk. The dialogue dragged on a little but it's still good. 8/10
Spoiler (highlight to view):
We also get to see Vulcan being sucked into the blackhole created at it's center. And a more detail look at the tail end of the, 'modified' Narada. This post has been edited by Chroniton: Mar 7 2009, 10:37 AM |

The Narada still, to me at least, looks like a giant clump of seaweed.
But having said that: the new trailer is absolutely fantastic. I'm starting to come round to the Enterprise's nacelle and I love the Kelvin more and more. The destruction of the planet (Vulcan?) looks stunning. Eric Bana is simply amazing as Nero! I now cannot till May! EDIT: I've just watched the trailer again and now that I've mopped up my drool off the floor, jackoverfull: Leonard Nimoy might not be seen in the trailer, but he is in it!!! The line "James T. Kirk was a great man" is very obviously Nimoy- as nobody else in the movie would know about his famous/infamous exploits he would have in the future! It's a shame they didn't show him though! Top notch trailer and looking forward to see the movie, although it would do for me even without the necessary sex scene. I know it will be linked to the story about Kirk's son we saw in Star Trek II, I'm just wondering if it was really necessary to bring him into this story. Well, let's wait and see before passing any premature judgements.

Has carol marcus been confirmed? i may be wrong, but i haven't heard a word about her so far… Sorry, I wouldn't know. That was just my speculation based on the trailer, which is showing a baby being born and a sex scene between Kirk and another lady (it could be Carol). I don't know who that was, because we know that Kirk was very easy around ladies so I wouldn't be surprised if the lady in the sex scene is not Carol. i'm not sure at all, but i think that the baby could be spock…
yes, jim kirk was very "easy" with the ladies…she could be carol marcus…ruth…or someone whe didn't hear in the "old" trek without any "continuity" problem… not that they will care too much about the old continuity, of course… |

It's quite stunning. I wouldn't expect much complicated stuff here.
You know, it's dawned on me: There's no right way to do a TOS Star Trek reboot in my personal opinion. This post has been edited by Rusty0918: Mar 7 2009, 11:55 PM |

Ok, I saw the trailer today in the cinema (I went to see Watchmen) and I must say that that bay might be Kirk himself as it is implied during a speech of his "Mentor"(?) about Kirk's father. It looks like this movie might establish not only how Kirk as a character came about, but also his relationship with Spock. Let's have fingers crossed that that will be the case.

The baby is Kirk--he was born (according to some articles about the movie) on the ship (The Kelvin, I think) that Kirk's father captained (for 12 minutes) during Nero's first attack.
Chroniton--there actually IS the obligatory Red Shirt Death--the parachuting scene, there are three people--Kirk (in blue), Sulu (in white-ish), and someone in red....guess who doesn't make it? (so says a review from an early preview JJ gave to some press a few months ago). Worshiptheprophets--that line "James T. Kirk was a great man. But that was another life" is clearly delivered by Nero, who would also know about the original Kirk. Still no Nimoy in this trailer. I think we *do* get to hear Sarek: "You are capable of deciding your own destiny. The question is--which path will you choose?" sounds an awful lot like Ben Cross, who is playing Sarek in the movie. I can't wait for this movie!!!!!! |

Awww....*sheds single tear*...
That's just what I've read. May or may not be true. But it would funny...one more "reason" to hate JJ and this movie, because Kirk wasn't born in Iowa, but instead had a much more dramatic and interesting birth.... |
