Does anybody happen to know of anyone selling the new Star Trek movie uniform shirts? Or .. is anybody here handy at making clothing and interested in making a little money making such a shirt?

remember the resourcefulness of the Star Trek fan. We should be able to figure it out on our own without a "pattern," which was done when ST:TNG originally premiered in 1987.

The problem with this one is there's a delta pattern in the material itself. I can't see why Starfleet would do this so it must be a ploy by the studio.
Either they're planning on producing their own and/or they want to stop accurate copies. |

It seems they have big sizes at certain places but they aren't in stock yet. You may order and not get in time for the premier here in the US. They look cool though.

Sounds like Paramount is at it again... pissing us off (me at least). Just like all the restrictions on the film, making it almost impossible for fans to organize somekind of première event, basically telling all their loyal fans to go to hell... Sorry, just wanted to get that out of my system |

I kinda like the added texture in the uniform shirts. I always felt the TOS-era outfits were rather boring. I just discovered that the emblem on their shirts is a silver metallic badge, and not sewn-in. I think it looks a bit nicer like that too. The pants look rather plain, though. I suppose it should be easy to make uniform pants like those. One could probably find something rather similar at the Gap. :-)

Andy, some of the bigger fabric stores stock stretch sports/athletic material similar to the new uniforms. They have an embedded diamond pattern, in some I've seen, which is similar. From a short distance, probably identical look. Sportswear companies like Umbro use that patterned stretch material, too.
Good luck. Let us know what you discover. |

I lack the motivation to actually create a shirt, myself. But, I'm willing to pay somebody that has the time and talent to create one. |

Dewback Wing's A Site About Props (ASAP) has discussions on these new uniforms, including some ideas on how to make the pattern in the fabric. The site is propreplicas.yuku.com

Yeah, and until I saw the delta pattern in a closeup, this is what I thought we were looking at... (which in a way would make sense a uniform made of wicking, lightweight materials, add some futuristic tougher than jersey factor to the material, and your set) With the delta its just plain dumb... |

The next time you see the material at a fabric store, would you mind getting the name or fabric # so that those who might want to get some will know what exactly to look for? And don't laugh - I made some of my favorite towels out of material I got at a fabric store, plus I found some tartan material which I use on my table when I do certain highland game festivals, and the material is cheaper than what it would cost if I got "true" tartan material (as in what's used to make kilts). That stuff costs like $60/yard. |
