Tarking Gods, what an amazing start.
As if I needed more reason to like Michelle, she sends shivers down my spine as Trem Warrick! Also, Michael McConnohie had me rolling, I am SOOOO gonna like Kellogg! A superb start for FRONTIER GUARD. I'm hooked! |

Excellent!. Really enjoyed it and just loved the characterisations. It is a visual improvement over the last shows too. Although this is not fully relevant to me as I watch for the drama. I gave the episode a (B) as even though it was brilliant in terms of story and acting, the structure made everything seem all too rushed. But in saying that, it was a hell of a ride! So all in all my verdict is: I want more!!!!!!!! |

WOW!
An amazing beginning to what looks like a gripping sci-fi series that I'd be proud to add to my DVD collection! I must dole out major kudos to the HF veterans as well as the newcomers for their efforts in setting up an entirely new sci-fi universe, and major congratulations to Rob for taking his CG skilz to a new high with far more elaborate animations than we've seen on any of the HF series to date! Yes, there were a few backgrounds recycled from HF and ODY, but this was not to FG's detriment. To put it succinctly, FG has one helluva beginning, and I anxiously await more! |

Also forgot to mention: for the two seconds she was onscreen, Melodee M. Spevack totally rocked it as Strayteb. ...Just that line, the look of the eyes to Rendan (Brandon) and then the quick beep of "on report". Hilarious!

Bringing up the main site to download the episode so I can watch late tonight. Thank you, thank you!
Edit: Make that, looking for the pre-release version for the forum members.... Edit: OK then, awaiting when it'll be released to the public. (I'm away from home, nights and weekends, and don't have mobile web access -- too costly. So I'll wait eagerly for the wide release.) This post has been edited by BlueCatShip: Jan 26 2010, 09:34 AM |

There's a lot to like here, but it's hard to say much when the series is just getting going (and the universe is brand new!)
I don't like to nitpick, but the misspelling of "Iapetus" right up front at the beginning of the episode really jarred me. |

I gave it a B for basically the same reason has Antony did, the structure. Most 1st episodes are a little shaky the do an intro of characters and start a story. Right now we have an intro of characters with a hint of a larger plot line, but no real story in this episode. However considering the number of bad 1st episodes I have watched, this is stellar in the way it did it. The visuals were great, I particular enjoyed seeing the "people" in the docking scene, it gave a sense of scale as well as making it seem more real. The characterizations where also great, you already gave them personality with hints of what is to come. Also the humor in it was good.

I'm going with a B too. Similar to the above, the structure is, by necessity, a snapshot of the characters we'll get to know over the coming episodes but it didn't really go very far in terms of story. Conner's back story was well played out at the beginning and gave us an interesting view on how he is (probably) the only pure DNA human in the modern world. Considerably better than, say, Sanctuary's first episode!!
The only other jarring thing was the glossy line on Michelle's face where her prosthetic was fixed - it left me thinking "oh, I can see the glue". Damn those HD cameras, eh? Other than that, looking forward to the next one. Eric |

First and foremost: a hearty congratulations to Rob and Co. for stepping into a brand new world with Frontier Guard. For your first step into a brand new world of possiblities, stories, characters, and drama, well done! I can see dedication written all over on this release! And I, for one, am very excited to see how the world of Frontier Guard develops and progresses.
Cliffhangers for sure! It did seem like a lot of story crammed into a short space, but given the distribution format (meaning YouTube), I could see the reasoning for a compressed story into the amount of time. Which is the main reason for giving this episode a B. However, the sheer effort of bringing this to life is to be much commended. Graphically, the world is stunning. Again, congratulations! |

One small thing:
Unless the spelling has majorly changed, the Saturnian moon is known as Iapetus, as opposed to how it was spelled in the episode. I remember Carl Sagan (z"l) calling it Japetus, which is still closer to what I saw in the episode (Ieaptus?). It sounded good. It looked good. I couldn't find my voice! *sigh* Oh well. Looking forward to the next episode. |

I was a skeptic. I wasn't sure I'd like an original show. But, I found myself being really peeved off that it just To be continued on me so I gave it a B mainly for it being two short. I liked seeing all the friendly faces and I really liked the pace of it. It felt like Season 7 of HF warm and friendly and just getting off the start. I really feel I can get into this. And I don't watch alot of Sci Fi other than Trek.
Congratulations. BTW CGI brilliant as always. Jealous too! |

Too short, but introduction/exposition episodes tend to be draggy so maybe it's better to go in the other direction and do one that crams a lot into a short piece. Overall, a promising start. I also noticed the misspelling of Iapetus, but I wasn't going to pick nits.

Good Start, interested in seeing more. My only issue(if you call it that) is I was hoping for a great intro like all the star trek series you have great openings credits.
