It's been a long time coming, but the long-delayed, long-awaited 3rd episode of Diplomatic Relations should begin assembly next week, assuming no difficulties with the Graduation trilogy work for Henglaar M.D., on David W. Hill's end.

Assembly has begun on DR 1x03!!
The first scene was completed today, and more to come soon. Still trying to find a composer to score the episode however. Myxysptlk, or however it's spelled, I take it you didn't get my message? |

And there's now a second scene up for review. Given the episode only has six...we're already a third of the way home, I hope.
 This makes me glad I was able to download about 20 gigs worth of royalty-free sound files last week....kinda need it for all of this terrestrial stuff.

I think we're up to 66% now...four out of six scenes with just short of 23 minutes of footage completed...still awaiting word on my last two submissions. At this pace, we might be done with primary post-production by the middle of the weekend. Then we'll just need the announcer's lines, the main theme and incidental music.

Things are going a wee bit slower than I thought - darn real life, anyways.
Still hoping to have the scenes fully assembled by the end of the weekend so I can swing back and work on a few more scenes of HMD 2.01 and 2.02.I just dropped off another scene, taking things to around the 80%/30 minute mark, assuming no major changes.

Now we assemble the rough cut of the whole episode, have the credits recorded, and then get this episode scored. Only a few steps left until release! Release date is TBA. |

I'm preparing the first "rough cut" of the episode now, which will likely go out to my fellow Executive Producers in the next half-hour or so. No narrations or music, but the themes where they would go and a general indication of where the scenes should land in the final mix.
Right now, the episode is weighing in at around 39 minutes, although that is likely to change. Personally, I think this is some of my best work as an editor. But my work isn't much good without the elements that I assemble. In that regard, I have to say that the performances we have are excellent - I'd be proud to put the HMD cast up against that of DR. Despite some technical issues with some recordings, I was able to squeeze some excellent sound out. I suppose it also helps that I just downloaded 20 gb of royalty-free effects. Definitely looking forward to finishing this composition and putting it to bed. |
