Perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to get Stephen out of Hollywood.  His entrepreneurial skills seem to be unbounded!!  Goodness only knows what he is up to when I am at work during the day.

If anyone else finds any evidence of Stephen's business activites, please feel free to post them here!

Oh no...  I think I need to start a new thread...  cuz I just found THIS while looking for something else:

http://www.otterbrewery.com/

Established in October 1990 by David and Mary Ann McCaig, the brewery is located on a 16th Century farm in East Devon's Blackdown Hills. David had brewed with Whitbreads for 17 years and Mary Ann's family have been brewers for generations. The original objective was to develop a small micro-brewery, using it's own spring water, yeast and locally malted barley to supply a few real ale houses with a top quality cask conditioned beer. Demand led to growth and now, over 15 years later the brewery consists of a state of the art 80 barrel brewing plant designed by David.

(Admiral Cole is probably spinning in her grave by now!)

The previous was prompted by Kujhawker, who found this:

and also by this....

and a little by this...

and of course by this:

It is almost as if we need a group of web junkies following Stehpen around tracking his activities.

How about we call ourselves:

If we really get a lot of this we would need our own website.

The otter is called Dobharchú(pronounced Dove are coo ) in Ireland, which translates as Dark Hound or Water Dog.

These animals were considered very magickal by the Celts. During the voyages of Maelduine, Brendan and others, these travelling Celts were met by helpful otters. The otter is thought to be a strong protector that helps with gaining wisdom, finding inner treasures or valuable talents, faithfulness and the ability to recover from any crisis.

How wise the Celts were.  Just think how lucky the folks on board the U.S.S. Odyssey would be if they had Lt. Stephen T. Otter on board, helping them as.... "a strong protector that helps with gaining wisdom, finding inner treasures or valuable talents, faithfulness and the ability to recover from any crisis."

But alas, it's not to be.  Stephen enjoys his sedate life living on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, spending his days eating shellfish, building his business empire , and running the new pharmaceutical business (with Thomas!).  Plus, it would be hard for Lindsay Lohan if Stephen were to be gone on board the Odyssey for an 'extended mission.'

So pass the fish, he's staying here on Earth.

P.S.  Has anyone in UK ever had an OTTER beer from a pub?

'fraid not, Rick. But I'll try just about any beer once.
I might have to see if there's anywhere in London that's a specialist beer importer. I've seen a few in other places...
By the by, does Stephen know anything about how "first contact" with the planet of the otter people went?

No, o :)nly beer that tastes like an otter has already drunk it

I think they serve that in the students' union.
Or there's the Red Bull, which looks like someone has already drunk it. I make it a rule never to imbibe anything that looks like someone micturated in the glass.

I understand that it went well, until a couple of the frisky little creatures got into Engineering, and Lefler chased them out with a broom.  That caused a diplomatic incident, which Shelby handled well.  There were some communication issues, at first.  However, once everyone learned the rather strange, chirpy, singing style (apparently, Bobby Rice is fluent in Otter), things were smoothed over.

If anyone else has any reports on how the Federation's first contact with the Otter People (the Lutrans) went, feel free to post it.

Inquiring minds want to know. (I think).

Otter drysuits:

Oh, a while back a sales rep was trying to sell my boss some power supplies under the brand name 'Tarka'.  My boss asked if Tarka power supplies were just like the competitors, except they ran a little 'otter.  Apparently the rep did not have a sense of humour.  :P

(Tarka the Otter is a famous book in the UK.  I don't know if you've heard of it elsewhere.)

My kids live in Fergus Falls, MN..the county seat of Otter Tail County and home to the World's Largest Otter!

In fact, had I more time before EB II, I was going to have a picture of myself in uniform taken with it.

Now Mike, don't go trying to fool the folks on here.  You and I both know that picture is the main square in Bivalvia, the capital city on Lutra.  I believe it is the statue of the unknown Otter who made his way out of the Patch years ago  (but I could be wrong).

Yes, Tarka the Otter had some popularity over here as well.  Not as big as, say Watership Down, but it was noticeable.  I think Carol used to have a copy of the book, but alas, I never read it.
